You may need to uninstall CMSF completely at this point to get it working again.

I assume that you've purchased a Battlefront online download of the game (that doesn't come with a physical copy). If that's the case, then BEFORE uninstalling it make sure to unlicense it first. You may need to actually manually unlicense the game depending on what kind of state it is in to run.

If you purchased a Gamer'sGate Download of the game, then I'm not sure how their licensing works and you may need to check up on whatever links or info has been provided by them regarding copy protection/licensing. If they're using an online licensing engine like Battlefront's eLicense, the definitely unlicense the the game first before uninstalling it.

Now reinstall CMSF and see if it works. Hopefully you won't get any warnings about needing the CD/DVD. Now make sure to download the EXACT version of the patch for your particular game. There's the Battlefront version (purchased at THIS website only), the Paradox version (purchased from brick-and-mortar stores or other online dealers) and the Gamer'sGate download version. As other posters have noted, if you apply the wrong patch, your copy protection gets messed up since such features are built into the game executable, which gets replaced with the patches.
