afreu
Hi, with the arrival of the 1.11 patch I installed CMSF: Marines (+patch) on a newer and better notebook. Its specs: Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2 GHZ 2GB RAM Nidia Geforce 8600M GS Vista My old notebook has the following components: Intel Centrino 1.8 GHZ 1GB RAM ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 256 MB XP I tried out the "Strength and Faith" mission and didn't notice any improvement in performance. I even lowered the resolution to 1024x768 and put the performance options on balanced and still no effect. I don't know how to display the FPS but I've the impression that on the newer notebook the performance is not only not better but actually worse. I think I can rule out a driver issue because I tested three other games, GRAW 2, MTW2 and GTA IV on the newer notebook. GRAW 2 ran perfectly with all options on middle-high. GTA IV performed reasonably good with all options on low. In MTW2 performance was okay with all options on middle. So what could be the reason for the bad performance?

Cpl Steiner
"Strength and Faith" is also not the most typical of scenarios. I've always had poor performance in that one. Turn off shadows (they look awful in that one anyway) and drop right down the quality settings if you really want to play it.
afreu
I followed the advice in one of the other performance threads on Nvidia card settings and turned of the shadows and voila: acceptable performance. Well, I guess I'll have to accept playing CMSF without shadows.
