Editor suggestion

Recommended Posts

Well, I don't know if it will be possible, but I think it would be a great idea to add the possibility of implement a third "faction" in the editor, Neutral units. Maybe could be considered allies or enemies to both sides, Blue and Red. This neutral units could be, for example, civilians and non combatant units, so that a town really feels like a town, not a bunch of buildings where nobody lives. They could have a value on points, for example in a Blue vs. Red battle, perhaps Blue earns more points if almost no Neutrals are killed. I know there is an option to choose "civilian density" on maps, but it's not the same.

Another example of Neutral units could be abandoned cars, so they would offer protection to your units without having to set them as yours...

I hope you understand what i'm trying to say, my english is not 100% good :P.

Thanks for your time.

This has been requested and discussed many times and BFC has always indicated they won't do it, both to prevent sickos getting their jollies from massacring the innocent and because civilians are a pretty minimal presence on the front lines -- generally they've already left town or found the deepest possible cellar by the time serious lead starts flying.

Counterinsurgency is something else entirely but BFC has made clear they aren't going out of their way to support that.

I've personally come to want to see civilians or "neutrals" portrayed in the way you suggest, with the proviso that they abruptly vanish from the game (as they would in real life) as soon as weapons fire of any kind takes place in or near their action spot. This way, would-be sadists wouldn't get any real satisfaction from killing civvies. Same for prisoners (which were in CM1 and BFC has indicated it would like to add them for the Normandy game).
