John Kettler
Saw it this weekend at bargain books in Borders , and a friend who did some perusal of it while I was engrossed in a stack of other books kept chiming in with one bon mot from it after another, together with many exclamations and comments. Sounded most interesting, but the reviews seem all over the place. http://www.amazon.com/June-1941-Hitler-John-Lukacs/dp/0300114370 Will snag it at some point if it's worth having, but since my Eastern Front library's very small presently, I'd just a soon get, say, TANK RIDER at full price than this at deep discount, unless it's a truly worthwhile addition to my library. Has anyone here read it? If so, what did you think of it, and does it offer any interesting gaming possibilities we haven't considered yet? What if, for example, Stalin had listened to Sorge and some of his senior commanders and put the border garrisons on war footing? That might make for some hot gaming! Hornpiper
I have it and read it. It's a fairly quick read and the author has some rather direct criticisms of several of the other authors of similar books. It's certainly worth picking up for the bargain book price (I got mine at Borders).
