John DiFool the 2nd
What I see in the screenies is something akin to the old Command HQ system, where units had complete and total freedom of movement, without squares or hexes, and you can vector them in any compass direction that you like. I'd guess that during the simul phase when two units get close enough to each other they will automatically attack (and, I'd also guess, attempt to retreat if they were given a "cautious" unit profile beforehand. I'd hate to lose a lone carrier to an ambush if it couldn't be told to run away from any confrontation). All the above is just speculation on my part, understand; I like you await a dev jumping in here and explaining movement and combat.
Moon
John is correct. Or in other words: Not hexes, but pixels There are no restrictions where you can move. What you see is what you get. John is also correct about unit behaviour. The player can influence this via so-called "Field Orders", which basically tell the unit what to do in a given situation (stay passive, attack anything insight etc.) Martin
