Hi

I posted in the blank screen thread but it went pretty much ignored so trying again smile.gif

We got past the securom problem and can now run the game. We get past the intro movie then we hit the black screen. Which we cannot get past to see the game option menu. Tried turning off AA from the graphics card but no joy.

Windows XP Pro

8600 SLi Nvidia cards

4Gb Ram

Are you running in SLI configuration when playing CMSF ? I can't recall off-hand if there is a way to turn SLI off from within the Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings > 'Set SLI Configuration'. Since there are quite a few problems with the 8x00 series of GeForces and CMSF, SLI is probably going to compound those issues - resulting in the black 3D screen, etc.

What settings do you have in the Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings ?

Are you running on a single monitor or a dual display? If dual, try and disable the second monitor.

You can also hand edit the display size.txt file and set a different resolution (details on how to do this are in the readme file).

Be sure to have your windows desktop set to 32 bit color as well! Thats very important!

Hi Matt

Secondary monitor is disabled, SLI is disabled, AA is off, Intro movie deleted and several screen resolutions have been tried on the display size.txt

None of the above have worked. Game starts, it's running in the task manager but nothing but a black screen.

32bit colour enabled as well.

How much memory does your Windows XP system see with the 4GB installed ? Typically 32-bit systems will see anywhere between 3.5GB to just under 3GB of memory. If you're serious about experimenting to find a possible solution, you may want to deconfigure your system a bit by removing 2GB of memory and see if that makes any sort of difference. I don't know the specifics of PCI Express memory mappings to know how much the PCI-E X16 slots take up in address space (which should automatically be excluded from normal RAM addressable space).

What motherboard and what Nvidia drivers do you have ?
