Xray
Hi Team I’m running Vista and when I attempt to run the editor I get the DirectX9 problem and asked to install the latest version. The problem is Vista has DirectX 10 installed so I’m in a catch 22 position. Any tips or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.
dmg
First, make sure you use Windows Vista 32 (We do not currently support Mission Editor for Vista64, see https://www.combatmission2.com/tow_order.html ). Second, download and install the latest version of DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft Web site (even if you installed DirectX 10 it doesn't mean that DirectX 9.0c will work correctly): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en Also, please check http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html for additional information. Xray
Thanks for the info and tips. But to be honest I’m not very keen installing an older version of directX especially since Direct 10 is supposed to be ready for the next generation of games. I’ve got a feeling that all that is missing is an odd local dll and everything will be sorted.
rune
No, I had to add directx 9 to get Silent Hunter to run. A lot of games are just not happy with directx 10. Rune
CriticalMass
I have Vista with directX 9 (December update) installed on top of directX 10 (obviously) and have had no problems. I believe they use different DDLs so nothing SHOULD get over written.
