JSB
When a movement order is given to a unit, and when the destination of this movement is not a building, The player has the option to give a face command or a hide command for example, applying to the waypoint, but without having to select it. That is an improvement brought with 1.08 or 1.07, I don't remember. But when the destination is a building, the player has to choose the floor first, and then, if he gives a face command or a hide command, this doesn't apply to the waypoint but directly to the unit. Is there a reason for that, or it is something that has to be fixed?
Field Marshal Blücher
It's the way the movement command works. When you are adding waypoints not to a building, if you look at the cursor, you'll notice that you're still capable of plotting another waypoint by just clicking and not having to select the move type again. In other words, the game reads you as still giving move orders, so it adds the face, hide, whatever commands on to the end of whatever you have selected. However, if the waypoint is added to a building, after you select the floor, you are no longer in movement order mode. By selecting the floor, you have deselected whatever move command you had picked beforehand. Therefore, for purposes of determining additional orders, the computer reads you as if you had not given it any new orders at all, or as if you had given the move orders, deselected the unit, and then selected it again. I don't know if that made any sense, it's kind of hard to explain, but I know what I'm trying to say. Is that comprehensible? Anyway, it's just the way the system works. I'm fine with it, but if enough people want to change it, then OK. Doesn't seem like a "fix" I'd want taking time away from artillery smoke, fixes to actual bugs, etc. -FMB
gunnersman
If I understand you correctly, in order for a face command (or any other command) to apply to the last waypoint in the building after you finish selecting the floor you want your unit to go to, you then need to reselect that last waypoint in the building to give a another command (face, hide, deploy etc.). In short, reselect last waypoint in building to give a command at THAT waypoint. Hope this helps.

As I had feared, I was not particularly clear, but this is correct.

On the other hand, not having to "deselect" units after placing a building waypoint is not stupid, for buildings are often final destinations. Not sure that the "fix" would be so simple...
