Childress
Performance was unbearably laggy with the (pricey) MS 6000 laser mouse. Out of desperation, I hooked up the throwaway mouse that came with the PC and *voila* drastically more responsive. It's playable now- it wasn't the video card. May be a compatibility issue here.....

Sergei
I have a USB connected Microsoft wireless optical mouse and don't have any such problems, so at least it's not something universally related to USB mice.
Childress
The back-up mouse is optical. It works. The laser doesn't.
MHertogh
I bet most everyone has USB mice. But the problem is that there are little known issues with USB mice. And then it seems only the high end ones that spam the USB bus. Childress.. Just a few questions that may help you or someone else figure out what is wrong. Is your substitute mouse USB or PS2? Are you using a USB hub with your laser mouse? If so is it powered? Did you verify you had the latest drivers? Are you using the lasers graphical interface or just windows default controls.
