mav1
It would be good to have a choose of choosing individual weapons for the infantry rather than the game doing it for you. Choosing the length of your attack for area fire would be useful, rather than having to area fire for the full 60 seconds. So if you wanted to area fire for 30 seconds and save your ammo you could do this.
hellfish
I'd prefer an order like "suppressive fire" like the current "area fire", where the unit uses a lower rate of fire but still has an effect on enemy forces near the target zone.
flamingknives
How about the TsO&E choosing the weapons available rather than the player? Extra weapons, such as LAWs, SMAWs etc. should allow some discretion, but individual small-arms should be fairly fixed. However, if the unit has some choice, such as the Stryker "gun room" concept, then that choice should be realistically available to the player. Selectable Rates of fire would be good, like 'intense', 'rapid' 'sustained', 'sporadic', 'targets of opportunity' etc. If weapon heating was modelled, it would create an interesting extra dimension.
