SlapHappy
This would be interesting to see since the game is based on the MOUT concept and commonly deals with close quarters combat. For instance, I had a group of soldiers in an adjoining building to a target with at least one known enemy on the adjoining roof. I decided to HUNT my men into the enemy building. They had to enter from a doorway on the side of that building. As my soldiers came within proximity of the doorway they were spotted by what turned out to be one of the two enemy on the roof. The Syrian opened fire and killed/wounded one of my men and then was killed by return fire from elsewhere on the map. I regrouped my men and HUNTed back into the opposing building. The second enemy soldier was standing more on the center of the roof and did not have LOS to the door opening - So my men were able to safely enter the first floor and killed the man with rifle fire from below. However, the second enemy soldier, lacking LOS did not seem to react very realistically to the situation. You would think he might be curious as to what the guy a couple meters away was shooting at. Also, at that proximity, he could likely have heard my squad moving around his area. Perhaps he should've moved over or down to engage what should have been an obvious enemy threat? Instead he sat there because he lacked LOS and did not react based on what his ears or logic would have shown to be an enemy incursion.
c3k
+1... (Although, maybe the rooftop guy was going to wait for someone to stick their head up over the edge rather than risking a look down himself?) Playing on Veteran I will scan the camera position around. In some locations I can hear the Syrians where I cannot see them. I freely admit to using that intel for targeting points. I do not know if this occurs in Elite. Perhaps a tweak to sound related TacAI would solve both issues? Thanks, Ken
Pandur
i dont think the enemy AI hears "anything". in fact i as player never had something like a CMx1 Sound contact so far. the only sound contacts you get are, as you wrote, the enemies you hear on the whole map when you fly around it. that is not changed if you play vet or elite, its like the terrain mesh for trenches, you just hear it also if you would never be able to. and a incident somewhat similar to this but doesnt have to do with sound. if you have a red squad in a house and you can spot a vehicle through a narrow gap between two houses, its impossible to tell the RPG gunner to move some meters so he can engage the vehicle. if i order to fire on that vehicle the guys with LOS will open up with their AK´s, give away their position and get killed, but the RPG guy is standing somewhere in the room, obviously not talking to his buddies waiting for a better day.
Mishga
I doubt also that sound makes any difference. I see troops ignoring gunshots and rumbles of tanks.
