CMBO TCP/IP Bug

Recommended Posts

Host computer CMBO crashes right before the 'movie' sequence. Data transfer progress bar reaches 100% but fails to disappear and a Windows 'error' sound is heard. Hitting escape causes game to immediately end at which point the other player's computer registers a loss of commuication.

Appears to be caused by the capture of a vehicle crew from either side (host or client) in the previous 'movie' sequence.

My system is running CMBO v1.12 (patched from v1.03)

800 MHz AMD

512 megs of ram

ATI Ratheon 7500 video

Assus A7V motherboard

Sound blaster Audigy

My opponent's system is similiar.

Any help or insight much appreciated

Sorry there's no fix for this problem. It's a known bug that won't be patched since CMBO is considered a finished product. This bug doesn't occur in CMBB, but some people have had a similar problem running TCP/IP games in CMBB (though this problem isn't due to captured crews and it more than likely may have to do with other connectivity issues beyond CM's control).

The closest thing you could do is play a few turns via PBEM with the 'saved game' on the opponents computer that crashed during the data download (this should be data from the previous turn, so everything you did in the turn that crashed was lost). You can then revert back to TCP/IP with one of the PBEMs. However if you run into another captured crew, the problem will repeat and you'll need to go through the PBEM process again.
