legend42
Ive noticed 2 faint small black "thread-like" lines on my monitor, 1 about 3" from the top and the same about 3" from the bottom,I think they just started recently because I would have noticed them before. On Italy backgrounds they are there but not prevelant. On the desert senarios where everything is white they are very prevelant. Is this the begining of the demise of my monitor or is it fixable?
Jev.Dk
Are the lines horizontal and do they go all the way across the screen? Jev

Jev.Dk
Dont worry then. They are supposed to be there. Its called Triniton i think. Your monitor is actuly 3 small monitors added together to be one, I cant remember how excatly it works, but dont worry, its not about to go broke Jev
Schrullenhaft
If it a Trinitron-based monitor, then as Jev.Dk said, it is normal. Typically you'll see these 'thin horizontal lines' on the tube when you have a very light background (white, etc.). These are wires supporting the 'aperture grille' that the Trinitons use instead of 'shadow masks' (a more common 'mask'). The larger the monitor, the more of these wires are required for supporting the aperture grille. Large screens can have 3 of them (I believe). For me it is the only drawback for the Trinitrons, however most of the time you'll probably not see them unless you're looking very closely at the screen or have a large white space up (such as a word processor).
