Well actually HTTR is not teeeeeeechnically a turn using game.

But it has a pause function, and any game that can be halted, is at least managable in some manner. It has 3 speed settings, which means you can modify how fast the game resolves the action.

Similar to SC though? hmmm I assume that implies simple, and or grand strategy.

Which makes it hard to offer some choices, as they tend to be something other than "simple".

Most games have two problems when considering them. They are either operational designs, or they are off the market and thus it is a matter of ya gotta find them to get them.

Few are actually ON SALE NOW.

HPS is probably the best place to look if you want something you can actually buy new.

And John Tiller is a wargamers wargame designer too.

If you want a great game to sink your teeth into, try getting yourself a copy of Operational Art of War Century of Warfare.

Supplies are often erratic these days though. Better chance of arranging a trade/purchase from a member at Warfare HQ

The Panzer General series have always been my favs for lightweight gaming before SC arrived.

You can even get it for free through a combination of Hotu or JPs Panzers.
