Dragonheart
I tried the demo a couple of times and in one of my demo games i noticed that ressources are not going up to 8 MPP anymore like in SC 1...on the other hand the harbours give 0 MPP !!!! shown are 5 MPP ....bug or feature? pzgndr
Resource strength for supply and production value are two different things. Ports are now zero-value for production, but now provide supply to land units. That's a change, a new feature.
hellraiser
resources 5 ... hmmm, that may make ppl double think before invading a neutral...extra turns earned by keeping down the readiness of the big guys might be better, who knows...
Dragonheart
Seems we all we will go for the more diplomatic option this time....bye bye cookie-cutter.
hellraiser
Let's just see how the final game plays out with diplo enabled. As it appears from the demo, diplo is insanely powerful just because Axis ain't allowed to buy stuff and it is more or less forced to spend cash on techs and diplo chits. It is obvious though that the use of diplo chits may lead to very strange games, and yep, you're right, in this case bye bye cookie cutter. Or maybe Yoda will go all political and brew some new mixed military-political cookie cutter dow denmark, dow norway, dow LC, kill the frogs, invest 2 chits in romania, 1 in hungary and 2 in spain Watch for the weak minded allied player to invest in Greece or whatever...since axis is so close to them anway - wait to take side and strike Iraq/Iran diplo actions may prove very interesting for the UK - they have quite a strong military presence in the desert and the proximity to those minors (plus russia coming in later) makes it an interesting choice. The real pain can come once the Majors are near to join the war. A cunning UK commander can suddenly sink 5 diplo chits in USSR - if he has the 750 cash available ofc - (say ussr is at 80%) and the next turn BANG!!!! USSR declares war on Axis, while germans were happily moving troops in trains around Europe in preparation for barby, knowing that ussr would join in 3-4 turns [ April 07, 2006, 07:16 AM: Message edited by: hellraiser ]
Blashy
Hehe, it all sounds good, but you'll be like me and Nax, bitching that our chits are not doing anything. At the end of the game you find out you both have chits in the same countries. I've kept Romania out of one game with him as Axis with only one chit while he had 2, remember 1 chit cancels out another, so he only had 5% per turn and got unlucky . That was fun. Diplomacy is VERY VERY fun, when your opponent forgets to keep tabs on it. If not, it because a standard check and secondary.
