Their task was to take out enemy strongpoints like bunkers or heavily fortified positions. Perhaps "Combat Engineers" were the equvalent on the US side? Guest Rommel22 Posted June 24, 2000 Share Posted June 24, 2000 Stosstruppen = Storm troopss (lighting) Pioneers (sturmpioneer) = engineers (storm troops or lighting) Sturmgruppe = storm group ( heavy weapons unit or a lighting unit, charge unit) Security squads were rear units.
