Moding german shoulder boards - Any success?

Recommended Posts

It seems that the arm polygons of the german

infantry obscure a lot of the shoulder board

graphics.

I tried to mod the infantry shoulderboards to

Grossdeutschland ones using the graphics and

info from Mike Dorosh's excellent site:

http://members.shaw.ca/grossdeutschland/

And here's the BMP in my editing proggie:

GD2.jpg

But when I put it into CMBB, it comes out as:

GD1.jpg

It's all stretchy and distorted. I'm getting worked

up over producing a complete set of GD branch

of service uniform mods, but it's not gonna

look pretty the way the shoulderboards are

modelled.

I think the trick is to shorten the monogram - it will take some fooling around, but it IS possible to match the distortions of the boards.

Let me know if you achieve success, I'd like to host your mods.

I've done the panzer uniform one (its on the site) and I think it looks a bit better - but really, you never see them anyway unless you zoom in extremely close.

Ryan,

If you do get the sholder boards done for the GD. I would be very interrested to get my hands on them. Michael knows why :D

Have you worked on the tactical markings for the vehicles also?

Also what about the helments, wasn't there markings for the GD on the helments?

Mike Dorosh, I think I can provide you with (1)

pantsload of GD mods by the time CM:BB is shipped!

Heh....would you punch me if I said the monogram needs to be moved higher up on the board? Looks great, though, well done! Jason Barnes thanks you!

Nah, 'sokay. It took me over 3 hours to figure

out the simple way to do it rather than reskinning

the shoulder boards totally.

This work?

Unless I can flatten out the 3D model there, this

is what we'll be stuck with, an angled GD logo.

You are the man!!!

Incidentally, the shoulder board looks just like a real one - ie it bulges up in the middle. If you had seen Panzer Pete, you would know how realistic this looks. Note the Y strap under the shoulder strap too - a real shoulder strap would look just like the one in your last scan.
