Guest SnarkerII
Pennsylvania. Close enough to Vermont to have a shot at a Saturday delivery. Open the mailbox and there is a large envelope!!! Whoo hoo! Kiss the kids, bid a fond farewell to the wife and crack a celebratory Guinness! Huh?? It's a package from work. Crap! Wait a minute - what's that in the back? A DVD case? Yes, a DVD case!!! Whoo hoo!!! I reach in and pull the case out slowly, savoring the moment. Ah, I can taste the stout and hear the cries of "Daddy, we miss you!". What? "Tired of waiting for the Internet? Disconnects, pop-ups, spam? Why wait? Move to Earthlink." AAARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!! Proof there is a God and He is a practical joker. LOL.
KG_Jag
Don't blame you for trying, but do you really expect the US Post Office to get it to you by overnight delivery? ...even when (not applicable here) they're supposed to? Worked for UPS for a while and found out delivery time is often a matter of distribution center location. Would be the same for the post office, I figured. BTW, did you know that your "Next Day Air" from UPS often travels ground? And your ground delivery for a geographic area (Maine to Maryland, in my case) will get there "Next Day" also? Hint to save you money...
Cull
I open my mailbox and what do I see? Some envelopes, a card, and a leaf from a tree Envelopes! Envelopes! Could it be?! No, they're too small for CMBB to be How silly I am for my hopes, I know For I live in Nebraska, a long way to go Only Saturday today, and though there's no snow More than one day, even for a flying crow When will I see it? When will it arrive? Monday? Tuesday? Surely Wednesday by five! I must have the game! I can't take it anymore! I'm drooling, I'm crying, I'm rolling on the floor! Please God, miracle CMBB to my door! Where I'm at (Harrisburg) is a big highway hub and there are a lot of distribution points and warehouses here - sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised because of it.
