Schrullenhaft Posted June 2, 2003 Share Posted June 2, 2003 The ATI Rage XL isn't a very powerful 3D chip and it may have a limited amount of VRAM too (4-8Mb). Stuttering effects with it should be expected in CM, especially with any scenarios that are large (# of units and/or map size). If you can afford it, you may want to consider upgrading to another video card. You'll have to examine your motherboard or its documentation to determine if you have an AGP slot or not. I'm guessing that your Rage XL is possibly built-into the motherboard and that you may not have an AGP slot. If you're limited to PCI slots, that cuts down on the options you have for upgrading (and ironically makes the video cards a little more expensive compared to the same-featured AGP card). If you're limited to PCI I'd suggest a TNT2 M-64 or GeForce2 440MX or a GeForce 4 MX420.
