And I can't stop playing CMBO(except for maybe this post)!!!!!!!!

I'm playing the "A Long and Bloody Mile" battle against the computer and it is going quite well. I came hard through the center of town and fast on the flanks with a little armor and caught the Germans in one hell of a cross fire. Eliminated six or seven squads and a few MG teams in the first 4-5 turns. On turn 12 now and have pushed them out of town and overrun a couple of platoon HQ's in the fields just outside of town(north?). Weird that almost all of the German squads are either "conscript" or "green" and break pretty quick. There must be some wicked surprises farther ahead, I haven't run into an easy scenario yet. If my luck holds out it will be a long and bloody mile mostly for the bad guys!!

Uhhhh.........I gotta go, I think the Boss(wife) is tossing and turning wondering where I am. I better get some sleep so I can get up early and play some more. This game is gonna get me in BIG trouble but it will be well worth it!!

Anybody remember playing this battle?

it gets worse ! slowly but surely, Play by Email will creep into your daily work schedule, and you will find yourself playing a turn or two during work and the rest of the time, sketching out possible tactics to your current scenarios.

Worse still, your kids (if you have any) will start comparing Tiger tanks against the Wolferines. Your wife, at some stage will either resign to the fact that playing CMBO is better than hanging out at the pub and leave you alone OR worse, she will try to limit your time at the computer like what she does to the kids....

of coss, if you are retired, then CMBO is made for you!

you, sir, have been assimilated! Welcome to the Borg!

Slappy:

Yeah I think that is the one. You enter a small town on the way to Caen which is right next to the setup phase area. Just north of town are some bocage and directly behind them is some fields going slightly uphill. Once you crest the hill you look into a small valley with a river running through it. There are five flags, one in the small town at the beginning, two on the crest of the hill and one each on both sides of the valley.

I captured all five flags and scored a "Total" victory.

Score: Allied= 59

Axis= 9

Casualties: Allied= 32

Axis= 265

I sure as heck did not expect a rout. The computer gave it to me rather good my first 4-5 battles. Kind of a weird scenario if you play the Germans.

1) Almost all of the squads that I faced were either "Green" or "Conscripts".

2) NO armor at all!

3) Maybe 5-6 MG's and only two AT guns(50mm PAK 38's I think).

I didn't lose any of my four tanks(three Shermans and a Firefly) which had been a major problem when facing off with German armor. One of the PAK 38's got the drop on one of my Sherman's and hit it three times and the Sherman still managed to take it out(ricochet, front turret hit, and another hit that flaked the armor).

Since I am very new to this game it was nice to get a big victory under my belt. If you are new to this game give this battle a try, I really enjoyed it. I know that the game is very dynamic and you probably won't get the same ending twice but not having to deal with German armor was nice.
