Schrullenhaft
Alt-B brings up the scenario briefing. However I'd guess that you accidentally hit Alt-G which adjusts the Gamma on the PC version of CMBO. Press Alt-G again and you can cycle through the settings (there are five of them). Pressing Alt-G repeatedly allows you to cycle through the settings. I don't know why the settings would remain if you did a reinstall, unless the reinstall was over a previously installed copy and therefore the Prefs file would still be there.
MrNoobie
alt-g doesnt work...i dont know why...it goes to the highest gamma setting and it stays there i cant lower the gamma setting for some strange reason
Schrullenhaft
Do you see any of the text at the top of the screen indicating that CMBO thinks it's changing the gamma values ? Delete the Prefs file then and you'll be presented with the resolution selection process the next time you launch CMBO. I believe that the gamma settings are maintained in this file and you should go back to the default (medium ?) gamma. Schrullenhaft
There's something definitely wrong with your keyboard mappings. Do you have problems with any other programs ? The 'Windows key' is equivalent to a Ctrl-Esc key combo, which doesn't map to anything in CMBO to my knowledge. Do you have any utilities loaded up for other games that may affect the way keys are mapped on your keyboard ? What Windows version are you running ? If you do a Ctrl-Alt-Del, what programs are listed (or for Win2K & XP what is listed under Applications and Processes) ? I don't think CM is defective here since few people have had any problems with the way the keyboard works in CM (other than a desire to map them as they would see fit). Either your keyboard is having problems, an utility is loaded up that is changing the mappings, there is a problem with the keyboard port on your motherboard or you have a virus/trojan of some sort.
Denizen
open up your combat mission folder and delete the file called "Combat Mission Bynd Over Prefs" this will delete your current gama settings (and a few other setting including resolution) and restore the defaults
MrNoobie
i use XP....its weird at times it works and im able to press the hot keys for the gamma and the breifings(which i need cuz during a heated battle i forget what the next objective is going to be) denizen: i do delete the Combat Mission Bynd Over Prefs and its all back to its default without the gamma problem....BUT when i exit the game the original Combat mission bynd over pref returns with the gamma problem....so each time i exit the game and reenter it again the gamma is to its max
Schrullenhaft
What video card do you have and what driver version do you have loaded up ? Was this a new/clean install of XP or was it an upgrade ? What programs did you have listed in the Applications & Processes (listed under the Task Manager) ? I can't think of anything off hand within XP that could cause such weird keyboard behavior, but there may be something loading up.
