simovitch Posted September 22, 2005 Share Posted September 22, 2005 I loaded this update from microsoft and it just seems that the graphics quality is better and smoother now on my machine. However your video drivers have probably been requiring DirectX 9.0x for awhile now if you've been using the latest drivers. It's possible that certain routines in the latest drivers weren't being implemented with only DirectX 8.1 being installed. With the latest DirectX code installed those routines may be showing up now. Of course some of them will need a game title that is programmed in DirectX 9.0 for certain functions to be used. However it may be possible that certain functions work a bit better with the latest DirectX installed (because of driver optimizations for the latest DirectX), even though the game title isn't programmed to support functions that are unique to DirectX 9.0. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
