Breakthrough
I know they were equpped with jeeps and trailers and had the job of keeping the Rifle Cos supplied during a fight. CMAK has them equipped with demo charges. Were they equipped to handle certain engineer jobs too like blowing a bridge or obstacle without having to call in Div Engs? Forty's 'US Army 1939-45' doesnt have much info.

Splinty
Keep in mind that A&P platoons and combat engineers are two completely different animals in U.S. Army usage.
