Redwolf
Lower temperatures at high clockspeed could be the result of a braindead fan control. The electronic might fire the fan too late. The result might be that the high clockspeed crosses into the fan-activated zone quickly enough, while the lower clockspeed hovers right below the fan trigger for too long and hence crashes the box. This phaenomenon is know with same car brands, in actual heat they have the electric fan on and everything is fine, in moderate weather they stay right below the fan trigger but the setting is too high for the engine's health.
