Sven
In a campaign I'm playing now, I have a couple of on-map 105mm Howitzers. How do I use them best? Is it at all possible to use indirect fire, for example?
Bone_Vulture
Nay, indirect fire is not possible. Sadly, the exact blast and penetration values for this particular howitzer elude me, but I'd say they're best used against structures or dug-in infantry. Be wary of enemy mortars, though.
Other Means
The blast etc can be seen at Folkes excellent site. Do you mean this one?
Elmar Bijlsma
Or this one? And then there apparently is the US 105mm Pack Howitzer but it hasn't got a unit picture and is quite rare. So let's ignore that one. Anyway, keep them hidden till you really need it or your opponent really bunches his inf. Might take down a decent tank under the right circumstances too. 105mm guns are quite usefull but not quite the 'oomph' of the German 150mm who only needs one good hit to pay for itself.
Bone_Vulture
I generally do not recommend the use of heavy field guns against tanks: these guns generally have poorer accuracy, and are big, fat stationary targets once exposed. Of course, it all depends on the type of scenario. Attacking or defending? Lots of armor or not?
