Canuk grants

Recommended Posts

Ok, theres no Canadian M3 Grants,

I know they were part of the Canadian invasion of Sicily, and Italy,

I know that several Canadian veterans complained about them in their memoirs,

I know this , but I aint seeing it in the game editor,,

I think I'm dissapointed,

JonS,

I could be wrong , and the old guy who works at the fish&chips place could be senile or something ,

but he says his battalion had a platoon of grants attatched when they landed in sicily in '43

He describes them as...........

"big tall buggers with a 17 pdr in the right hull, and a wee okie doke 37 on top, Big as a barn inside",,

sounds like a grant to me,

but again,, i could be wrong ,

Well, except that Grants never had a 17-pr installed.

There is also nothing in that quote that specifically says they were Canadian Grants. Apart from anything else, Canada didn't have armoured 'batalions', so presumably the platoon (which for an armoured unit should read 'troop') was attached to his rifle batalion (and him being a rifleman owuld explain the mangled units used, and also thinking the 75mm was a 17-pr). In which case, the tanks could easily have been British.
