coe
Just a quick question can someone explain to me why close range AP shots tend to ricochet alot? What's the physics behind it? Coe
Redwolf
Do you literally mean richochet or any hit-but-no-penetration?
coe
ricochet, shot breaks up, whatever it is the shot doesn't penetrate.... C.
Redwolf
In that case I'm afraid your question is not precise enough Most penetration tables show shorter range being better for me, so can you post an example of what you find curious? coe
hmmm, I talking about very close range like 25-50m apart...I remember seeing alot of ricochets in CMBO also. Coe
Michael Emrys
As a riccochet can be caused by a number of factors, it is impossible to give a comprehensive answer to your question unless you specify precisely the conditions under which it occurred. But as a generalization it is worth remembering that like everything else, an AP round will follow the line of least resistance. So if, for instance, it strikes armor at a shallow angle, it will prefer going through air rather than steel. Michael
