Philippe
The other day I was shaving before going to an interview when I suddenly realized that I had known all along what SPW stands for, but had never realized it. When I got back I looked it up to make sure I wasn't delusional, and also checked out a few of the others I could remember that had always bothered me. I am especially partial to Sonderkraftfahrzeug (SdKfz). The one I couldn't find was PSW. The P is probably something like Panzer and the W is probably a Wagon, but what does the S stand for, and how do you get it to mean armored car ? It certainly can't be the same S as in SPW.

Philippe
Thanks for the quick reply. Out of curiosity, what is the difference in meaning between spaeh and aufklarung ?
Lucho
I think the term "Aufklärung" is used on a operational level (recconaissance), and "Späh", "Späher" is a tactical term (scout?).
