cbb
I am attempting to design a scenario to be played with the human player as the Germans and the AI as the Russians. I would like the AI-Russians to begin the scenario with an artillery bombardment. How do I get them to do it? I've given the Russians spotters (82mm and 76mm) but through fifteen turns of play, I have yet to see any Russian artillery fire. I really need them to fire sooner (and, if possible, lob some smoke rounds as well)... Thanks.
bjornkri
Hehe, funny. I was trying precisely the same thing yesterday The really really heavy artillery takes up to 25 minutes to ready is seems :\ I'll be watching this thread, I'd be interested to see how it's done.
Aacooper
I don't know how to force the AI to fire artillery, but maybe putting TRP's down would encourage the AI to fire at the TRP's (which have a 1 minute delay).
Panzer76
How about you padlock a german unit in view of the russian side form the start. Would encourage the AI to start with a prep bombardment where the unit is located.

I tried that but with no luck... I've noticed that in the "Hornet's Nest" scenario, the AI always starts with a bombardment. So there must be some way to do it.
Kingfish
Panzer76 is correct, padlocking a unit in LOS would get the AI to launch a prep barrage.
