Steiner14
I've stopped playing CMBB quite some time ago, but now the interest is coming back again. Does anyone now, if there are any meta-campaigns going on somewhere?
PeterLorre86
BigDukeSix is running one currently, you may be able to get in it. Here is the Forum, http://the-battle-of-lauben-campaign.foren-city.de/

Bigduke6
News update, the campaign is moving along, we are finishing up phase (turn) two of a max 24 phase campaign. Lots of carnage, the Commies though they were supposed to be on the defensive decided to hit the Fritzies with a local counterattack! With Stalin IIs, in the dawn fog!   We've been averaging 8 battles a phase, almost all big ones on 2km x 2km maps with reinforced battalion equivalents on both sides. The sun however is slowly burning the fog away, and both sides are trying to zoom formations all over the map to patch holes or exploit them. Will the godless Communists halt the ferocious German assault, before Moscow finds out and starts punishing all and sundry for retreating in March 1945? Will the Teutonic legions score one last victory before the war ends, or has the zing gone out of their Blitzkrieg as a significant percentage of your Landser are schoolboys and pensioners, while the cursed Reds are tough veterans? Stay tuned...

Bigduke6
I would say "practically, no influence at all." Why? 1. Borg behavior in CM is well-known so players on both sides expect it and know how to deal with it. 2. Engagement ranges are relatively short and LOS is relatively restricted, because of weather (fog, rain, dark etc.) but far more important because this is East Europe not the desert, so the terrain is bumpy, forests, crops, and vllages interfere with LOS, etc. 3. At the end of the day the borg is neutral, and the thing that drives success or failure in a campaign like this is player skill on the CM battlefield, followed by player command team skill in getting the right units to the right battlefield at the right time. Already the campaign is playing out quite differently than the historical one, but this is almost totally due to player and player command team skill. You should see the planning communications and combat reports; it's very realistic and in some cases remarkably professional. True the Soviet side keeps demanding more vodka, but they tell me that's just because of their dedication to realism. Zarquon
There's also the good ole Onion Wars IV campaign: http://www.onionwars.net/forum/YaBB.pl It's a strategic campaign about the epic struggle between the Emerald Empire (good) and the Union of Smoked Salmon Republics (evil). We're in Turn 22 now, and the campaign has been going on uninterrupted since May 2003.
