Sgt Nic
Hi, Havn't played CM for long but got a sudden urge again. And realised I don't know if: Is there any point putting a trench in woods compared to foxholes? Are accumulated protection better?
Kingfish
There may be a slight gain in concealment, but that is offset in a big way by the added vunerability of treebursts. Better to put the trench behind the tree line.
John Kettler
Sgt Nic, If all you had to worry about were bullets, absolutely. Unless you can guarantee neither mortar nor artillery fire nor direct fire cannon or any weapon which explodes on contact, setting the trench in the woods simply goes a long way toward negating the eneormous cover benefit afforded by the trench. Thus Kingfish's suggestion is the way to go, generally speaking. Here's the crash course on cover. As you can see, a trench is the best cover in the game. Things would be different, though, if the game modeled entrenchments and foxholes with overhead cover. http://www.fewgoodmen.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=947 Regards, John Kettler
