Choosing Ammo by Coin Tossing?

Recommended Posts

OK. 'Splain me somthing, Lucy. I was playing a set up where I was defending against the Germans. I had a slew of infantry trapped right out in the open, all clustered up and my two guns, when running low of HE, decided to start firing AP rounds even though they both had several rounds of canister available to them! Were they saving it for when the Germans got really, really close (They were already only 2-3 hundred meters away), or were they planning on selling it on the black market?

I can understand that if the enemy is too far away, canister loses it's effectiveness, but like I said, these guys were less than 300 meters away.

And stop calling me Lucy.

Discussion of case shot earlier in this forum said it would be effective up to 300m.

IIRCE StuGb's fire canister at Soviets up to 300m - but I often wonder why they use HE on a cluster of targets advancing on them at 50-200m distance.

What AP ammo type is used? The "big HE load" is probably counted as HE by your gunners.
