Movement rates

Recommended Posts

Hi all agin,

Another question about movements rates of units.

1. Has anyone created a table of movement rate by type unit tha a unit can cover over various terrain?

Infantry type/AFV or Vehicle in a one minute interval, ground covered meters traveled in one minute by movement command vs terrain.

Bone_Vulture ,

The movement rates meters/per minute by type unit vs terrain would help a player better plan an action. Certain attacks/defences would hing on timing. Example a Russian green infantry Company attacking in three waves of three platoons each, with a veteran platoon attacking on one of the flanks. The veteran platoon would be attacking as the last wave is engaged. The distance is 400 meters to the MLR(main line of resistance) Artillery would be timed as the second wave hits the MLR.

So how many minutes before the second wave is within 100 meters and the artillery is planed to hit target? When should the flanking veterans jump off to time thier attack when the 3rd Wave hits the MLR? Ground covered by infantry per minute would assit in timing the attack depending on terrain effects.

Wayyy too many factors. It could be calculated, but I'm doubtful whether it'd be of any use.

Here's some of the stuff that'd have to be taken under consideration: weather, temperature, ground conditions, global morale, unit experience and the its current level of weariness / morale.

I'd say that you'll learn by experience.

you will learn about russian arty the hard way. their generals were not as good as you smile.gif

do a search for complaints about russian arty.

the bombs may fall on time, but maybe 1k meters away. or right side wave of green troops may hear a gunshot and run backwards, leaving your left side vets unsupported.

thats what i like about cm. doesnt always go as planned.
