Björn Eriksson
Was it an attack/defend QB? When attacking, you get a large bonus to how many points you have to buy troops (~50% IIRC).
JasonC
Attacker normally gets 1.5 times in a battle. Then you probably have the "losses" setting set to random. Your force is at 20% losses. That means you buy more points, but then the computer randomly "decimates" them to get the point total down to the limit - in your case, from 2800 to 2250. 2250 = 1500 times 1.5, 2800 times 0.8 = 2250. As for the defender, he gets a bonus to his force size for the handicap setting, along with the losses thing. Sounds like the computer is at 30% losses. When operating with the losses feature, you pick a larger force before set up, but can't be sure which units you will still have in the actual fight. Infantry losses can come in the form of a few men per squad or weapons team. But some whole units will also be missing. It is generally a good idea to take sufficient numbers of "vanilla" forces, to keep a balanced set after the random reduction. If you take a lot of "lumpy", expensive items - like high variety heavy tanks, or big FOs - you can sometimes keep those but only get a shadow of the rest of the force, or conversely lose the one item you counted on keeping. I hope this helps.
