Nightshade Posted February 20, 2003 Share Posted February 20, 2003 I am aware of how the basic numbering system was done (see link if you don't and would like to) http://www.volny.cz/gegepanzer/indicate.htm However, what I have not been able to establish is whether (in the 1941-42 panzer divisions for example) the medium panzer IV company would have been numbered first company or 3rd/4th company in each battalion i.e. is it senior or junior to the light companies ? Similarly when the Panzer II platoon was present where would it be in the numbering sequence ? :confused: I realise this could be a case of 'depends on the unit' but that sounds very unlike the Wermacht I know and love. Taking this further anyone know how Marders/Stug's etc. were numbered ? same ?
