phil stanbridge
I've always used variable rarity in games thinking this to be the more realistic of the three options. Am I hot ot not?

Am I hot ot not? I guess there is no realisitc pricing system. But variable rarity has the advantage that you don't always buy the same stuff for a given time period. Though sometimes the cost/benefit analysis between to units is so lopsided that rarity alone can't push it towards the other side. Ever considered buying a PzIb at 60% rarity when a PzIIc actually costs less? PzIIIj or Pz38(t) in 9/41 when both cost roughly the same? OTOH I would still buy the IIIj at rarity 50% over the Pz38(t) at 0% - just to have some other examples than StuG/PzIV/Tiger Gruß Joachim
phil stanbridge
I can see where you're coming from. Interesting point. I just thought that rarity (as modelled in the game) meant what was available when. So you couldn't buy a Tiger in 41, for example, with rarity set to variable or standard, but you could with it set to off. I'm missing the point here obviously.
Fishu
Stantard rarity just makes historically less common units more expensive. Older models becomes rarer by the time and therefore gets more expensive. New models are rare and are more expensive. Variable makes this more random. With variable rarity, you could simulate different availability of certain area/unit. Not like every area/unit had 5% chance of getting Tiger and 30% chance of getting PzIII in august 1942.
