poots
I am trying to play someone and it keeps saying connection refused when I enter in his IP. I dont have a firewall and he says he doesnt either. Could it be a problem if you dont enter zeros before a number? Like this for example (IP: 121.45.234.2---> 121.045.234.002) Any help is appreciated.
Yaggmoth
I´m not an expert but I pretty sure zeros have nothing to do with your problem.
poots
Ok thanks, still cant get it to work though. The person im playing is from Holland and im from Canada, could that be a potential part of the problem?
Yaggmoth
Try it the other way ,tell him your IP ,if you don´t trying it yet ,if not work restart the pcs that always is a great troubleshooting. Best luck.
Sombra
Hi, I would bet that you and your partner is using windows XP ... Windows XP has in internal Firewalll which must be turned off for the host of the game (Most users don´t know the firewall exists) (Start=>Settings? => choose your internet connection=>properties and turn the firewall off...). Regarding the IP -Number you have to put in the IP Number exactly as it is shown without 0 or such... SC is IMHO quite stable and easy to play by internet.... (Europa Universalis, CIV3 (Play the world) anyone...? )
Iron Ranger
If the person hosting is using a router you will see the same error. Looking in the SC floder and you will see several read-only files with help on basic questions, one of them is 'Playing SC using IP'. Or something close to this.
