AAR Avatar(Allies) vs Terif(Axis) using Avatars house rules

OK, changed sides - perhaps this time he will continue fighting - my longest game ever against Avatar until now lasted until turn 15...

Allies get 120 UK, 600 USA, 2400 Russia.

Germany conqueres Warsaw in turn 1, but no surrender. Denmark attacked, subs raiding.

--------------------------------------------------

We play according to Avatars rules:

"ADVANCED STRATEGIC COMMAND:

BOTH SIDES:

- No Tech level may reach more than Lvl 2 in ANY field, except Rockets. Industrial Tech may reach Lvl 4. After this level is reached, chits must be reclaimed.

Axis Rules:

- Germany is limited to 5 transports in Atlantic areas (everything west of Gib), and 1 in Med area. These include Axis Minors. Any direct tranporting (eg Kiel -> Oslo) are not included in these restrictions, only transports that stay at sea for 1 or more turns.

- Italy is restricted to 2 transports in Med at the same time.

note: Not only do these represent historical restrictions on respective countries' landing craft availability, they also counteract many controversial tactics.

- Axis may not invade Spain until 1943

- Vichy France may not be invaded until 1942

- Sweden may not be invaded until at war with Russia.

- Italy may not research AT (not even to L1)

- Malta may not be taken, only a forced evacuation and port damage (eg. losses too heavy for UK air/corps). Allies may elect to return.

- Axis may only land troops on UK soil in 1940/41. After this period, an occupation of Moscow is required to invade UK.

- Germany may only have maximum of 2 air units in Africa, and only 1 land unit (not incl. HQ). Italy is not restricted.

Allied Rules:

UK:

- No UK unit may be disbanded until 1940

- No Allied DOW on Spain is allowed. Portugal may be invaded by Allies only starting from 1943.

- LC/Italian Gambit not allowed by Allies.

- UK may only have 5 tranports at sea at one time (including transit through Suez)

- USSR may not advance more than 3 hexes into Finnish territory until 1943.

- USSR may only invade Sweden if it is Axis held.

- USSR may not invade Turkey until 1943

- USSR may not have more than 3 tranports in Baltic at one time. USSR may not have more than 3 tranports active in Black Sea at one time.

- No UK/US Armies or Air allowed on East Front.

- No USSR pieces allowed west of Suez Canal.

USA

- USA is allowed unlimited tranports

- No other restrictions for USA, except Tech."

Axis turn 3: Denmark surrenders

Turn 4: LC surrenders

Royal navy found subs in the Atlantic, 2 carriers are attacking too and moving within sighting range of the subs. Courageous gets damaged to str. 5 before both subs are sunk.

March 31, 1940:

A german tank reaches the outskirts of Paris. Italy will join next turn. French HQ detected. A damaged french army (str. 3) without entrenchment is sitting in Paris. French mine some time earlier conquered. Irish defence corps moves out of the city to die the death of a national hero smile.gif

June 1940:

Allies left Malta, the african campaign started with 2 airbattles and a sunk italian corps transport.

Allies have 2 AF, 1 bomber and at least 2 ships near Alexandria.

Axis are only 3 transports allowed and 2 german air in Africa.

Norway conquered - the last neutral for a looong, looong time, now it is waiting and waiting and waiting...until Barbarossa starts somewhere in 1942... :D

July 14, 1940:

Allied fleet attacks Bergen and reduces it to str. 0. Carrier intercepted by german air in Norway. In the counterattack: UK corps transport destroyed and Glorious reduced to str. 3.

Axis forces moving closer to Alexandria, only 2 hexes away now.

July 28, 1940:

Allied naval forces attack near Alexandria, both ships get destroyed in the counterattack - allied air operated away, probably back to England.

Ships are also attacking empty Brussel and a german cruiser in Bergen port - obviously Allied commander Avatar really never played much longer than the first turns of SC, otherwise he would know this is a very very bad idea...

3 German airfleets and a cruiser attack the ships outside the coasts, Courageous intercepting. Ships survive barely - one at str. 1.

End of April 1940:

Finally some action, Yugoslavia coups - but the action is already over after one turn - Yugoslavia surrenders :D

All minors joined in the meantime.

Late summer in 1941:

The sommer is hot - german soldiers become lazy and start plundering the french wine cellars...

A german HQ goes crazy and walkes from Tobruk to Tripoitania on its feets - asked why he did this the commander replied: to count how many sand flews live in the desert...

A LF near LC starts shooting at french fishermans to have some target practice...until the belgians threatened with a whine embargo when they wouldn´t stop hurting their neighbours....

In the meantime Italy is collecting mpps and anounces proudly they own more ressources than Spain. At the moment they are at over 800 mpps, but they are sure to reach soon 1000 since they dont know what to do with it....

and it is still:

waiting for Barbarossa...

End of August 1941:

Italy reaches 1000 mpps - huge celebratings in whole Italy :D

Unfortunately a grasshopper plague destroyes parts of those carefully collected mpps in Africa and the italian government decides to spend its mpps for something useless...

And it is:

waiting for Barbarossa...

Terif at his best wondering where the next enemy will come from ;)

Armed sandflies could really threaten the axis dominion in Egypt.

1942:

After celebrating christmas they return to their positions near Russia - German high command promises they will soon have a bit variety and can start drinking russian whisky instead of french whine...

yep, Russia made a jump from 85% to 95% in one turn - only change were german transports near Riga, so obviously they caused the readiness jump (didn´t use amphibious landings in Russia since a long time, cause it is usually forbidden by the rules - so I moved them to their destinations too soon).

So in March 1942 Axis is finally at war with Russia smile.gif

Despite this little mistake: all 9 border armies cut off or destroyed, Riga captured by 2 landing armies, Odessa surrounded.

USA at 88% readiness.

Finland joins Axis.
