Port landing question

Hello all,

So the questions to day is about the capacity to land into a defended port...

When the port-city have an enemy unit inside, you can not enter the port itself...

Usualy when you destroy the corps in the port-city and have troops on land around the port-city, it allows your transport to enter the port zone the very same turn and to land into the port-city you just emptied...

But sometime you are denied the entry to the port despite of an empty port-city... Why is this ? What makes it possible or not ?

It is pretty simple:

As long as an enemy unit is standing adjacent to the enemy port, you can not capture it in this turn with your own units. So you only need to destroy all adjacent units and AFTER this you can move one of your land units to the port and capture it.

BTW: The city (or fortress in case of Gibraltar) is the main owner of a port, so the next turn ownership of the port will be returned to the owner of the city.

Sure...

It is mainly for city with ports and especialy for Norway... Each time I kill the city corps and land 2 armies each side and sometimes I can move a transport in the port sometimes not... All the time there are no enemies corps around...

after you kill the oslo defender and the city is empty, you have to move another unit adjacent to the port in order to capture it - killing the defender is not enough to get oslo/port

a simple scheme:

axis use say, 3 units for getting norway: one positioned right of Oslo, 2 left;

the most southern unit lands (3 hexes down from Oslo - left side) and do not move; the units in transports left-right to Oslo disembark and kill the corps; the unit that landed 3 hexes below Oslo (left side) move adjacent to the port and capture it; the HQ/whatever waiting in Denmark sets sail to Norway, disembark using the captured port and enter Oslo.
