Tiger I colors, a bit OT perhaps...

Yeah there is certainly a lot of variation even among camoflage specialists in print. I figure most are fairly close and certainly not implausable.

Jean Restayn's book on tigers is a nice one to have and book German Tanks of World War II in Color is also a nice little book. There 's a new book coming out this March called "German Tanks at War" by Carruthers/Fletcher, Cassell Academic; ISBN: 0304353949 (Cassel, same people doing the CD?), which should be one to look forward to, and I've ordered the interactive Tiger CD-Rom as well. The cool thing is that once you get patterns and colors for one tank or vehicle, you can pretty much safely use that color/scheme on other types of tanks & vehicles, without being too "unhistorical".

Jeff,

I have been looking for info on the time sequence of the numbering changes for the Das Reich Tigers. Here is a quote from Panzer Colors III:

"Das Reich used the temporary Kursk divisional sign until the following winter, and also retained the white gnome company symbol. The tigers were then painted with new turret numbers as the 8th company, using the standard three digit number system. The tanks carried these numbers until the 8th company was detached from DR to form the cadre for sSS PzAbt 102 in March 1944."

I also think in Restayn's book it mentions that the Das Reich company was the only one to use the "S" for Schwere company.

So it would seem that "8" came after "S".

Something else I'd like to see for CM2 would be seperate turrent and hull side bmps for tanks and vehicles so we can do lettering, numbering, and markings without having it come out backwards and reversed on the opposite side. This is probably the most important thing as far as modding in CM2 that I'd like to see.

Speaking of Tiger colours in early/mid '43: what about the illustrations I found in "Kursk 1943" (Osprey campaign series) depicting Tiger tanks (and other German AFVs) in a cammo pattern that sports only dark brown patches/stripes over the dark yellow base? Was it common or it's a misinterpretation based on B/W photos of hasty repainted tanks with dark yellow over old Panzergrau?

Regards,
