Walter
I was looking at some maps and troop deployments and some of the US infantry divsions are reported as RCT(45th) Division (and also with RES underneath the symbol for the Division). What does all of that mean? Cheers, Walter R. Strapps
Jeff Heidman
Doesn't "RCT" stand for Regimental Combat Team? IIRC, most US Army divisions at some point where divided up into three RCTs with attached support designed to function semi-independently. The RES, I have no idea. Reserve maybe? Gremlin
From Jane's Defence Glossary: RCT: Regimental Combat Team RES: could be a number of things--Radio Emission Surveillance would maybe make sense. It wasn't in the DOD Dictionary. ------------------ War does not determine who is right--only who is left. --Bertrand Russell
IntelWeenie
RES: Could be Reserve? (Isn't 45th Div a reserve formation?) I think "Radio Emission Surveillance" would more likely be called EW (Electronic Warfare) or ESM (Electronic Support Measures) ------------------ "It's a boy!" - My wife's OB/GYN Nov. 8th, 4:45am
