OT-Free History CD

Recommended Posts

For those interested in WW2 history and artillery specifically, go to http://www.longneckonline.com

You can apply to receive a free cd on the history of the 274th Armored Field Artillery Battalion.

It is a book with plenty of pictures and documents. A couple of good photos of armored vehicles including a knocked out PV-IV and a Sturmgeschutz.

All you need to view it is your browser. Believe me its worth it.

Well my skiff's a twenty dollar boat, And I hope to God she stays afloat.

But if somehow my skiff goes down, I'll freeze to death before I drown.

And pray my body will be found, Alaska salmon fishing, boys, Alaska salmon fishing.

Thank you Frenchy!

I am now looking forward to the CD and the info it contains.

Just read half the chapters. Very interesting. Couple of things surprised me. The amount of mud and the relative lack of direct fire.

Also, the time on target missions sounded particularly devastating. That would be really cool to model in CM. Well, come to think of it, I guess it is modeled via TRPs.

Frenchy (Steve) - thanks for helping spread the word. I will try not to flood your board with spam.

I have gotten a rather large volume of requests for the book thus far. So many in fact, that I have had to change the orders page on the site. While I was at it, I added a link to Battlefront.com as well. biggrin.gif

You had mentioned you wanted to do the same with your material. Let me know if I can help. I am a firm believer that the memories need to be preserved while we can.

Another success was finding surviving members of my grandfather's battalion and learning they still have an anual reunion in Cleveland which I will be attending.

Thanks again for spreading the word. It means a lot to know that people are actually interested in my grandfather's story.
