Juju
Guachi said something about different types of Shermans. I dug up some info. It's probably far from complete, and may even be inaccurate, but here goes: (I'll keep the special characteristics short cos though chassis types don't change as often, turret types differ a lot, as well as guns and armor. otherwise it'd be a bit timeconsuming. Oh, and by the way TT: means Turret Type 01: M4 (no loader hatch TT:A) 02: M4 (oval loader hatch/smoke mortar TT: 03: M4 (as 2: with vision cupola TT:C) 04: M4A1 (no loader hatch TT:A) 05: M4A1 (oval loader hatch/smokemortar TT: 06: M4A1 (as 5: with vision cupola TT:C) 07: M4A3 (no loader hatch TT:A) 08: M4A3 (oval loader hatch/smoke mortar TT: 09: M4A3 (as 8: with vision cupola TT:C) 10: M4A3(75)W (oval loader hatch/smoke mortar TT ) 11: M4A3(75)W (as 10: withvision cupola/wet stowage/HVSS TT:E) 12: M4A3E2(75)W 'Jumbo' (as 11: TT:F) 13: M4A3E2(76)W (as 11: TT:F) 14: M4A1(76)W (as 11: except split loader hatch and loader AA MG mount TT:G) 15: M4A1(76)W (as 11: TT:H) 16: M4A3(76)W (as 14: TT:G) 17: M4A3(76)W (as 16: TT:H) 18: don't know if this one counts, really: VC 'Firefly' (british "knockout" Sherman variant: no assistant driver, no bow MG, oval loader hatch, smoke mortar) Well, it's late on my part of the globe. Sure hope you don't already know all this, Guachi! Guest KwazyDog
So, which one would we all prefer to have been in given the chance ? Ive actually seen rounds from a King Tiger bouch off the Jumbo. Well, the first couple did That 17pndr really cuts through armour though. Hmmmm.....
Juju
The Jumbo's gun is just too puny. I'd say I'd go for the Firefly. Even without a bow MG. Looks nicer too!!
Guest KwazyDog
Hehe, yeah, hard choice I guess it comes down to a choice of wether your more interesting in surviving the war or knocking out German tanks Id probably go the firefly, Im sure they had a descent fear factor amongst the German tankers. Guest KwazyDog
Yup, I know they are pretty much the first thing I take out if I see them. The 17pnd cuts through silly amounts of armour Fast turret turn and rate of fire too. Not too hard to kill though if you hit her
Fionn
If I see a Firefly I kill it. In fact, I pull out all the stops to kill it. Those things are lethal and are priority 1 targets. I'd probably still pick a firefly though... It got to hang back in overwatch a lot so my chances of dying in an ambush would be greatly reduced. Guest GriffinCheng
I think most elite German tankers will do so "Target that panzer with long nose!" Griffin @ work
