Operation Market Garden was intended to shorten the war, and as such it had the best possible motives, that it didn't succeed was down to a number of factors. But looking around for villians is, IMHO, a much poorer alternative than accepting that in the real world of decision-making mistakes are made, and sometimes those mistakes are compounded by bad luck.
