Gary T
While setting up a DYO game I noticed it is not possible to purchase Vickers MG's for British (and Polish) Airborne. Any reason why this is as they certainly had them.
Smack
That could be a problem, the did have vickers machine guns. Maybe someone could clarify this for us. Thanks
Jeff Heidman
Yeah, the way this is set up is a little irritating, since it forces you to use the TOE that the game designers settled on. I would ratehr there be a way to designate general units as being Airborne, orm better yet, a unit/OOB editor. Jeff Heidman
Kevin Peltz
They definitely had Vickers MG's. My friend's Dad fought with the 6th Airborne in Normandy, and had said that they were both brought in on gliders and dropped via 'chute...

JeffRaider
I recently noticed this while playing Moon's excellent operation Utrechtseweg(get it at www.gamesofwar.de). I would have loved some Vickers to hold that frontage. . .
von Lucke
You do know that when setting up a Quick Battle, you can buy any of the Allied units by clicking on the "Force" button? Just add a regular infantry Vickers to your airborne mix...
Kevin Peltz
Scott: It was HIS dad- afraid I don't recall as he passed away five years ago. He was a Bren gunner- had many interesting stories to tell, anecdotes about the PIAT, the Bren, etc. My friend still has the Dennison smock he wore into Normandy... Guest Scott Clinton
Sorry, I mis-understood your post. I am also sorry to hear he passed away. I have read just about everything about the 6th AB I could get my hands on. Those guys had guts. ------------------ Please note: The above is solely the opinion of 'The Grumbling Grognard' and reflects no one else's views but his own. Kevin Peltz
von Lucke: No, I did not know- thank you. Another one to add along with the Vickers would be the Universal Carrier- they could be carried by the Hamilcar gliders. Damn, not enough time to sit down and absorb all this stuff- have to get divorced, sell kids into bondage, quit job, stop sleeping...
