Gen. Longstreet
I just finished a game (against AI) with full fog of war. During the game one of my snipers made contact with a tank, it showed 'Tiger?'. But after the battle the enemy didn't have any Tigers on battlefield ( knocked out or still alive ). I wonder if this is a feature of the game, soldiers thinking they saw a Tiger but it was in fact, a Panzer IV.
YankeeDog
Yes. Your soldiers can (and often will) misidentify one tank as another. Some types are particularly prone to misidentification. The PzIV - TigerI mis-ID is especially common. Higher experience units are less likely to mis-ID an enemy unit. As distance gets shorter and/or the LOS conditions improve (i.e., not looking through trees or whatever), your chances of a correct ID also increase. Cheers, YD
Firefly
Whenever I see Tiger?, particularly in scenarios, I mentally say to my troops 'C'mon lads, get a grip it's probably only a PZIV'. Unfortunately there is no word for that sinking feeling in your stomach when you find out that it's actually a King Tiger .
Sergei
Say no more, Firefly - in one PBEM game I sent my M-10 to KO a Tiger, and it did it. After the battle ended, it turned out to be a Königstiger! First my pulse went up, then I started laughing... Königstigers scare me!
