Am I missing something?

Hello everyone...... :D

I'm an old soldier (very old) and I've become an avid CMBB player, primarily PBEM.

I've just downloaded TacOps Demo and thought I'd check it out, however, I have noticed that there's very little activity in this forum surrounding the product.

Is it because it appeals to a narrower audience then CMBB, or are there shortcomings to the software that make it not that enjoyable?

I realize the demo may answer the latter question for me, but I didn't want to buy the product if I enjoy it, only to find a lack of PBEM opponents available to play against.

Thanks for the feedback...

Regards,

Badger

Welcome to this forum.

There is indeed a smaller community than the CMBB one.

We mainly use the Tacops mailing list, although lately there hasnt been much traffic there too.(think everyone is looking CNN or shipped to the gulf)

I dont have the email adress to the list present but you can find a link on the TAcops HQ site.

There are two websites where you can find opponents too,Warfare HQ site and Hubs site.

Happy hunting

BadgerDog;

TacOps does appeal to a narrower audience than CMBB. TacOps has also been around for almost ten years now so there isn't much new to say about it.

There is usually a flurry of posting for a few months after each new upgrade/rerelease but then the posting falls off to what I think of as the normall, relatively quiet level.

There also tends to be more posting in the Fall and Winter than in the Spring and Summer and there is more posting over all on the semi-private TacOps mailing list than there is on this forum.

You should not have any trouble finidng enough PBEM and or network opponents to keep you occupied especially if you post your challenges on the TacOps mailing list.

To subscribe to the TacOps mailing list, unsubscribe, or view message archives go to

http://lists.perilpoint.com/mailman/listinfo/tacops

By the way, membership in the TacOps mailing list presumes that all members agree to only discuss the "how" of military operations and not drift into flame wars about the "why" of them.

Put the manual aside and just give 20 minutes to the tutorial and the Basic Training scenario.

Everything important that you will ever need to know is in the tutorial.

After finishing the tutorial then play the Task Force Ghallagher scenario. The U.S. is on the defensive in Ghallagher so there is less to think about.
