Rowdey
How the bloody hell do you make those 81mm mortars fire on a target! Mine just sit there and rest. Does it have to do with too much range maybe?
Ben Galanti
Either they have to have line of site to the target, or else be in command and control of leader that does. if the targetting line doesn't 'stick' after you place it, it means that neither of those conditions have been met. pathfinder1
as Mr. Galanti alluded to...ya just have that range finder line out there and wiggle it around until ya see "area fire" or the target name in blue??/red?? ------------------ this is pathfinder's evil twin
RobC
Read this post from a few days ago: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/005594.html Discusses artillery/mortars in detail. Mikeydz
If your firing at a target outside of LOS, remember that only the target area command will work. If your trying to target a specific unit, then your mortar needs to have LOS to the unit, or be under the command radius of a HQ unit that has the target in LOS. So if the commanding HQ unit or the team itself can see the target, use the Target command. If you can't see the target, use the Target Area command. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is right. See also the Artillery Usage FAQ on the Combat Mission HQ Annex http://cmhq.tzo.com/ It's in the Golden BB's section. Jochen2
If you do, as said above - it´s important, that the command unit is not hiding!!!! Jochen

Jochen<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Hmmm... My "spotting" HQ unit for the mortars is always hidden. I have no problem to use indirekt mortar fire while that HQ is operating under an hide order. I always leave it hidden, makes sure it survives so much longer. I believe it affects LOS negatively in some way, but it does not negate it completely, so you can use it while hidden. Pfalz XII
In my experience, if the mortar teams are hiding they will not fire. HQ's can hide and the mortars will still fire. ------------------ Formerly known as not THE Charles from BTS
