Guest Rommel22
The German army handbook is a good book for all Gemran formations from 1939 to 1945. It has all the german formations where they were raised when and where did they fight. Good book if you want to where the formations fight, good for making scnerios. "German Army Handbook" by James Lucas ------------------ From the Das Reich book as said by a German soldier "when the Russians reached us, we opened fire, the first wave had no weapons. The second wave didn't either (fire fodder). The 3rd and 4th had weapons and opened fire on us. By this time we were low on ammo, but we drove them back." Mace
Other good books of a similar nature include: Handbook on German Military Forces TM-E 30-451 & Hitler's Legions (Samual W Mitcham) Mace
spcwrnglr
Wait. Didn't the Germans lose? Its like reading a book on chess strategy by a guy that stinks at chess. Hey hey, read all about our army tactics, that DIDN'T WORK, the allies still made it to Berlin!
Mace
The Germans lost the war alright, but they managed to fight quite well at a tactical level (not to detract from the fighting ability of the Western Allies). But, if you're going to play CM correctly, it doesn't hurt to dig into the tactics of all the nations involved! Mace btw, only one Ally made it to Berlin, the Russians. Guest Rommel22
This book doesn't talk about tactics. It's about Order Of Battle. It lists all the formations where they fought and where they ere raised. That type of deal. And another think, It doesn't mean that if a certain country looses a war soesn't mean they suck at fighting a war. The Germans were overvhelmed by the sheer numbers of the allies that's why they lost. Most were very good soldiers, read Erwin Rommel's Infantry tactics. That book is issued to American soldiers at boot camp I think. That's what some people say, might be wrong. But heard it from ex-U.S. army soldiers. ------------------ From the Das Reich book as said by a German soldier "when the Russians reached us, we opened fire, the first wave had no weapons. Von Brizee
So I suppose American tactics are horrible because of that Vietnam thing, eh? But oh, I forgot, that doesn't count, because you're American, right?
