I posted a few weeks ago asking for laptop recommendations and received mostly comments on the iBook. Can anyone give me opinions on the following: Toshiba 1715XCDS, HP N3410, Compaq 12XL300. I've owned about 6 different laptops now, and the Thinkpads were the best (and most trouble-free) value for the money. The other really good ones are the Toshibas, but $$$. Pay attention to the video memory options! Most laptops have pretty pathetic video cards and drivers and they are expensive and sometimes difficult to upgrade.
